Nicoleta Papp


Nicoleta Papp received her M.A. of Art History and Theory, Heritage and Cultural Management department of Art and Design University in Timisoara with a thesis that focused on some projects of Irwin, Laibach and NSK (Neue Slowenische Kunst). She holds a B.A. from the same department with a thesis about the art festival State of mind without a title that took place in 1991 in Timișoara and a B.A. from Language and Literature, Romanian – English department of West University of Timisoara.

Last summer, she took part in Summer School program: Constructing Utopia / Eastern European Avant-Gardes and Their Legacy at MG+MSUM, Ljubljana. She collaborates with Arta Magazine, where she also participated at a workshop for young art critics. Her publications include the poetry volume Business Card for the Center of the City (in original Carte de vizită pentru centrul orașului, 2014), articles, conference papers and poetry in collective volumes.

She is currently researching the Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK) phenomenon and its social implications. This year, she will also register for a PhD in Art History and Theory with a thesis that follows NSK State and its collectives since their beginnings in the 1980s within the context of Yugoslavia and Eastern Europe.
